Make Known...

Believing God is sometimes achingly difficult. Overcome with waves of logic and reason, it is a battle to preach the Word of faith to myself and keep my head above water in my river of doubt. Tears have been trickling from my eyes my whole life; a steady stream to a raging river of why’s and what for’s.

However, in this freshman year of “real” life something has begun to change. I have started to abandon the hopelessness that has plagued me for most of my Christian years in favor of seeking out the visible Word that straightforwardly tells me God has found me to do me good, not only in Eternity, but here on this planet.

“I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord! Be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Psalm 27:13-14

We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28

I am an all or nothing kind of girl. The thing about scripture is I can believe all of it or I can believe none of it. And I have come to the conclusion that all of scripture is True and Worthy of believing. Deeply believing.

For me, believing it has been a huge challenge in my walk with God, especially believing in His goodness towards me. I have been rather successful at believing in His goodness towards other people but have consistently been convinced that I would never truly partake in that goodness the way they would.

Now, I am becoming more and more convinced that He does want me to experience His goodness in all the different ways He could possibly show it. I have become much more optimistic about my own future during a season of extreme uncertainty. Most of you know by now that I quit my case manager job at the shelter and have not been working there since the middle of December, meaning I have been unemployed for 2 and ½ months. Not exactly the goodness I had in mind. But here I am with no clues to when things might change or how long they might stay the same and yet I am trusting God to come through for me, to provide everything I need. This is a new thing, people. I am notoriously terrible at trusting the Lord, but it is changing.

I share this with you for one reason (and that reason is not to update you on my life because I would rather not share with you how extremely unemployed I have been and still am). I share this in faith that God is going to move on my behalf. I share this so that you will know and give thanks to the Lord when He does provide for me. I share this so that His glory would be great, not just in my own gratitude towards Him but also in your gratitude and joy on my account. He is going to do something awesome for me (and can I tell you that it still scares me to say that and trust that it is True?)

Give thanks to the LORD, call on His name; make known among the nations what He has done!
Psalm 105:1

I want Him to move like He did last September when He got me my job at the shelter. Except this time, I want to recognize His movements as such and honor Him with my joy and gratitude the way He deserves. I want Him to be glorified when the page turns and I can tell you what happens next. Pray with me for the page to turn.
